107 Sleeps to go- The Blogger

A Life That Is

Hi Everyone! So I’ve decided to start a blog! πŸ™‚ It is to combine my passion for writing as well as my new venture of travelling and taking photos along the way to remember a great life and to share with my family and friends as well. My aim is to begin the blog where my incomplete book ends..

So a lot has actually happened since I started the edit on the first blog, just haven’t had a chance to actually post anything!

The fun stuff that’s happened over the last couple months have been exciting! I bought myself a GoPro! How cool! Still trying to figure out how to use it though. And a couple of weekends ago, Dad and I went out to Millamolong to watch the Polo, their charity being Camp Quality so we were there with the Tractor Trek crew and their Β tractors!

My plan is…

32 sleeps to go- Getting sick :(Β

So this morning, I had to go to the local emergency department!

I had been feeling tired and run down for a few days now, but I thought that that is all it literally was.

Yesterday afternoon at work, my eyes were feeling tired and heavy, and a little bit uncomfortable to be honest.

Then last night when I got home, I couldn’t wait to get my contact lenses out, as my right eye began becoming more and more irritated.

Then this morning, I wake up and my eye is sure, red, itchy and watering!!

I knew I had to see someone straight away 😦

I had to ring up work to let them know I couldn’t come in and I went straight up to the ED.

Originally, the doctor just put it down to a scratch on my cornea, gave me some eye drops and sent me on my way.

Less than half an hour later, I got a phone call asking me to come back.

Due to my contact lenses use (for sight by the way, not cosmetic purposes), the doctor had got in contact with the eye specialist centre in Sydney, and wanted me to go on stronger eye drops immediately, incase of infection.

So I went back up to the hospital, picked up my script and was told I needed 3 days off work and a specialist appointment here in town to confirm a diagnosis.

What a damn inconvenience!

Haha I hate getting sick, it really bothers me because there is really nothing else I can do about it but take my eye drops, go to my doctors appointment and wait to get better.

On the upside, I think I was due for a few days off considering I had been working up to 55 hours a week for over a month, my body told me to slow down for a few days!

Looking forward to getting better and having a well needed rest πŸ™‚

37 sleeps to go- “So pack your bags real good baby, cause you’ll been gone for a while”

Well TGIF.

It’s been a weird week.

As far as work goes, it actually hasn’t been as busy as how I feel it has been, but I’m absolutely exhausted.

I’ve been having the most rotten sleeps and late nights. I’ve had so much on my mind.

I think now that I’ve got the dream job, it’s all I think about and more.

But no matter how tired I feel of a morning, I find the one thing that gets me in the best mood of a morning, is listening to music.

Music always puts me in a good mood!

I make new playlists all the time with upbeat happy music that I’ll have playing of a morning when I’m getting ready for work.

There has been songs like “Taking the long way round” by Dixie Chicks and “Can’t hold us” by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, songs with typical upbeat and travel lyrics.

There has been one song in particular that seems to be sticking in my head every time I hear it.

“So Good” by B.o.b.

It’s all about travelling and seeing everything the world has to offer.

It gets me excited to board that big jet place every single time I hear it.

Music= Life πŸ’œ

42 sleeps to go- Job Interview Finale

So you’ve probably all been wondering since my first ‘Job Interview’ post whether I actually got the job or not.

I’ve been having many sleepless nights due to the fact of just not knowing whether I got the job.

Well I am very glad and extremely pleased to say- I GOT THE JOB πŸ˜€

As of the 21st of September, my new working holiday home will be at The Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise.

The is the dream job of a lifetime and I couldn’t be happier!!

45 days to go- When you have to start saying your farewells

Today I came into work like any other normal work day, expecting nothing out of the ordinary thinking it would just be another day.

About 9 months ago a new staff member started here at work of whom I began to become good friends with.

At first I thought he was a bit of a tosser, but has I got to know him, he grew on me.

You can’t judge a book by its cover, and everyone has their own personal stories to share about themselves.

As our friendship grew, me seeing him as a kind hearted person, sometimes a little rough around the edges, I was glad that I was able to keep a friendship with a boy without it becoming more.

We would laugh at the gossip and rumours that would go around at work, because really, a boy and a girl can’t possibly just be friends right, according to everyone else!

I would often bring in a coffee for him in the morning when I knew he had had a rough night and he had brought me chocolate when I had a bad day.

I was always appreciative when he was there to listen and I was always there to be the ear that he needed.

I won’t go into what happened over the last couple of days, it’s not my place to tell, and I don’t know the real story anyway.

But something was up when I walked into work this morning to find out that he had left on the spot.

My heart was broken, a friend that I had to say my farewells to much sooner than I had expected.

A friend that was only moving an hour away and I am going a whole ocean away in 6 weeks.

It hit me how much I will miss seeing be this particular friend on a daily basis at work.

And how much I will miss other friends, whether I see them on a regular basis or not.

It’s like the old saying though, “If it were easy, it wouldn’t be worth doing”

This adventure of mine will certainly be worth it, but it has not come without sacrifice.

Til next time mate!

47 days to go- Job Interview Part 2

A couple of weeks ago I posted about a job interview that I had coming up.

So it went well I think.

It was like any other job interview, except it was over the phone.

The woman interviewing me was lovely, it’s funny how some people have a warmth about them over the phone, I could just tell.

She talked to me about the job, and Lake Louise and the pay. She told me that there is staff houssing available and that there are always opportunities for advancement within the company.

It sounded perfect, and incredible.

After over half an hour of talking, which went by very quickly by the way, I thanked her for the interview and she said she would get back to me soon.

So a week went by and I hadn’t received any response.

Last night, I sent an email just to touch base for the fact that I hadn’t heard anything.

She informed me that she sent an email during the week to me, but I hadn’t received it, but asking for a couple of employee references.

Today I asked my bosses for references and emailed them back.

So basically I still don’t know if I’ve got the dream job yet or not, but still keeping fingers crossed.

After all, they know I don’t arrive until September and they are still talking to me about the application. They haven’t said no.

53 sleeps to go- Disneyland

Today I purchased my my Disneyland ticket!!

So I went last year but I did not get enough time in I think to see everything I wanted at Disneyland and California Adventure Park, so I’ve purchased a 2 day ticket.

Last year, my last day in USA was spent at Disneyland, so not only was I rushing, but I couldn’t stay for the night fireworks and I missed out on a couple of rides because my flight was leaving that evening.

I’m better prepared this time for Los Angeles, I’m going to see the Hollywood sign and go up Rodeo Drive.

My theory with buying my Disneyland ticket now is that I can pay for it now with Australian money rather than my spending money when I am over there.

It’s all getting a bit exciting now 😝

60 sleeps to go- Never felt better

So the closer the trip is now getting, the more excited I continue to become.

It’s finally so close, so close I could nearly touch it!

So close I can feel the warm Miami sun in my skin and see the bright blingy neon lights of Las Vegas!

My eat, work, sleep, repeat life has gradually become more and more social again.

I’m seeing my friends more often and doing more.

Ok maybe not a whole lot more, but going to give myself a pedicure or a haircut, cutting myself some slack on my fradantic saving.

It felt good to finally have a drink after so long with a good friend on the weekend.

For the next 2 months, as well as trying to keep as fit and healthy as possible, I am also going to begin training my contiki liver again, because let’s be honest, contiki isn’t about having tea parties and early nights.

I am excited for not only contiki and the travelling, but what the next 2 months will bring in the lead up to my farewell.

62 sleeps to go- mini contiki reunionΒ

Goodbye long weekend!!

And what a great weekend it has been πŸ™‚

After work and more work, I travelled to Blaxland on Sunday to catch up with a friend from my first contiki last year, who was going to Europe on another contiki!

I arrived about lunchtime to a warm and sunny 18 degrees on the Blue Mountains!

After doing some quick last minute pickups from the supermarket, the drinking began!

I paced myself with Recordelig and had an enjoyable evening sharing memories with an old friend and making friends with new people.

After a pretty steady evening on my behalf, the night was over quickly and before I knew it, it was the next morning and Elissa was going through her suitcase checking she hadn’t forgotten anything.

I was so excited for her, and I hope that she has just as much of an amazing time as she did in the States.

Although, no group of contiki friends will ever be as good as the first one πŸ˜‰

Have a great trip chic!

70 sleeps to go- Emerald Lake vs Lake Louise

Whilst doing research into Canada, the potentials towns list became bigger and bigger..

To the point where I had 10 locations on my list, and I became so much more confused.

After looking at some beautiful places, like Osoyoos in the Okanagan Region of British Columbia.

My heart melted at the look of this beautiful little location.

But then it came to me that I will be there during winter!

As beautiful as the wine regions are, it is a summer area.

I had to take a step back and remember what I wanted to get out of going to Canada.

To see the snow and the mountains and the frozen lakes.

My list of 10 was culled down to 2 locations-

Lake Louise and Emerald Lake.

Both places as picturesque as each other.

How am I to decide??

#first world problems right!
